Learning to care
2010 “Learning to care“
Interactive 3D installation, 3 m diameter, 100% wool from rare breeds of sheep (Shetland, Jacob) and cotton and linen as surface elements, produced for the two-year Itinerant Exhibition in Europe: The Climate is changing.
This piece asks us to consider how the current environmental situation,
reflects the way we currently interact with all of our relationships.
Thinking that we can survive in isolation or that relative abundance protects us from suffering, is an illusion that requires sincere attention.
The work invites us to kneel down and to become a caregiver through the archetypal and intimate gesture of doing someone’s hair. Each action that aims to “take care” allows survival in time and right now,
initiates far-reaching positive change.
